All patients deserve exceptional health care in a place where they feel heard, understood, and accepted for who they are.
The adolescent and young adult medicine team at Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital takes an individualized approach to patient care, with consideration for the physical, mental, emotional, and social components of their health and well-being.
Our LGBTQIA+ safe and affirming care teams are trained in inclusive practices, with each completing an online program developed by the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center. We are focused on creating a safe and welcoming environment where all patients feel respected and understood, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
Our team provides a wide range of adolescent and young adult health care services with a special focus on the needs of LGBTQIA+ youth. Some of the services we provide include:
Screenings, checkups, and other routine primary care and pediatric services performed in a safe, inclusive environment.
Management for depression and anxiety, with a focus on the mental health challenges and needs of LGBTQIA+ adolescents and young adults.
Our patient navigator helps connect patients with outside agencies and resources for LGBTQIA+ youth, including support, social, and advocacy groups.
Behavioral health, social affirmation, and psychosocial support services for those who are transitioning or wish to transition. Gender-affirming hormone therapy and surgery options are available for adult patients.
