Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital Earns ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade

May 01, 2024

Grosse Pointe, Mich., May 1, 2024 – Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2024 from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.

The distinction recognizes the achievements of the hospital in protecting patients from preventable harm and error.

“Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital has a tradition of excellence in quality and safety,” said Jeffrey Ditkoff, M.D., senior vice president, chief of quality, safety and experience for Corewell Health™ in Southeast Michigan. “This award is yet another recognition of the wonderful care and patient experience that is provided by the team. We are very proud of this accomplishment and thank all the team members at our Grosse Pointe site for their dedication to caring for their community.”

The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country twice annually. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data sources. Taken together, the performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

“Across the system we continue to make forward progress on optimizing safety outcomes for the patients and families,” said James Moses, M.D., chief of quality, safety and patient experience for Corewell Health. “I’m proud of the achievements we are seeing broadly across the organization.”
